                                    1880/1881

The family of James and Precilla Newsome had its beginning around 1880 in Burke  County, Georgia. He was a native of Suffolk, Virginia.  History shows that  relatives of James Newsome joined the Nat Turner Insurrection to help free the  slaves of South Hampton, Virginia.

As a young man, James Newsome came to the south, after drought and crop failure  in Virginia, to work with the Turpentine Industry in Georgia and South  Carolina. In Georgia he met and married the former Percilla Thomas.  This unin  was blessed with ten children.

The family of Jacob and Eliza O`Conner had its beginning around 1881 in Burke  County, Georgia.  Jacob was a native of Aiken County, South Carolina. As a  young man he met and married the former Eliza Thomas in Burke County, Georgia.   This union was blessed with nine children.
